The Australia Western Sahara Association – AWSA – Webinar: Wednesday, November 18, 2020 6pm
The Australia Western Sahara Association (AWSA) invites you to a special event.
Western Sahara Down Under
Across the globe, nations are struggling to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. The Saharawi refugees, however, are especially vulnerable to the pandemic because of their dependence on humanitarian aid, the prevalence of underlying health conditions, and the harsh and challenging environment in which they live.
In this special virtual event, we will bring you an in-depth update on how the COVID-19 crisis is affecting the refugee camps
Join us with Tecber Ahmed (Head of African Union Department, Ministry of Public Health in the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic – SADR) Haissam Minkara (Oxfam in Algeria), and Lyn Allison (Former Senator and Leader of the Australian Democrats; President of the Australia Western Sahara Association – AWSA).
You will have the chance to ask questions about how the emergency response of international NGOs is being rolled-out, the health promotion activities implemented in the camps and the impact of COVID-19 on the daily lives of Saharawi refugees..
And you will hear how you can take action to assist the emergency response and stand with Saharawi refugees as they confront the pandemic.
